Vince McPhail, Board VP shares his thoughts as he recaps the day!
A MESSAGE FROM LESLIE LUEDTKE, EVENT COORDINATOR Hello All! First, I would like to say a big THANKS to all of you! Without the group effort that we had, the Veterans Home event would not have been able to come together so quickly! It was really amazing! For those of you who were not able to join us, I think I speak for all of us that were lucky enough to be onsite Friday, the heartfelt gratitude pouring out from the team at the Veterans Home was palpable! To add to Leslie W's email, this IS why we do this! The outreach from not only our fellow senior community members but the community of Spokane as a whole was exemplary. The generosity that kept coming through the doors of Love In Home, the Facebook website and the SANEWA website, the donations of toiletries, swag, puzzles, clothing, hats, arts and crafts, snacks....the list goes on and on. Those care packages were FULL to the brim with goodness and the recipients were so happy! It was a good day to have a great day despite our SANEWA weather curse!
Here is an unofficial summary: FUNDS RAISED: Facebook Donations: $1275 SANEWA Website (Paypal): $2755 Cash/Check Donations: $2050 TOTAL: $6080 (WOW!)

- Cancellations - As most of you are aware, COVID-19 has shutdown organized group gatherings of any kind for the foreseeable future. This has prompted everyone to regretfully cancel/postpone planned events this spring and beyond. _______________________ SANEWA Beautification Project: This wonderful mid-spring community project is postponed until further notice. If, at all possible, we hope to reach out to support a local community this summer! _______________________ Cooking For a Cause: Our biggest event each year that supports Greater Spokane County Meals on Wheels has been canceled for 2020. With the drastic impact on the hospitality, restaurant and supporting industries through the area, this fundraiser must take a year off to regroup like so many others. ______________________ Monthly Meetings: This April's Monthly members meeting was conducted online with the guidance of Heidi Boehl and fellow board members. If necessary, May's meeting may be conducted in the same fashion. Kudos to everyone who was able to participate. ******************************************************************** In addition, if you have other upcoming events you would like to share and have promoted, please don't hesitate to send that information to Bruce at email@example.com.
Spokane Area Senior Care and Communities: If you have a need for hand sanitizer, local Spokane business, Dry Fly Distillery is offering FREE hand sanitizer to area senior communities. Some facilities have already reached out to them but if you have not done so, simply email and tell them who you are and what you need (this is specifically for the senior care community, please): firstname.lastname@example.org Stay healthy and safe, SANEWA Members!
